I’m Judie Troyansky

My name is Judie Troyansky I’m an author and I’m an artist. It wasn’t until I was almost 50 that I claimed the title. A teacher I had, who had passed away, came to me in a meditation. He told me I had put myself into a box, like the one he had watched me make in silver. I was so obsessed with claiming one title– of being only one thing — I’d ignored all my other gifts. I couldn’t find my path because I couldn’t settle and make that choice. He had taught jewelry making when I met him. But he had published a book of poetry, and he was a graphic artist and a printmaker. He was Lomawywesa, and he wasn’t meant to fit inside a box. If I couldn’t find my title, he would give me one—ARTIST.
